Not Actually a Tiger – Despite the name, the Saber-Tooth Tiger wasn’t actually a tiger at all! It belonged to a group of prehistoric cats called Smilodons.
Super-Sized Teeth – Sully’s long, curved fangs could grow up to 7 inches (18 cm)—longe r than a standard banana! But they were also fragile, so he had to be careful when biting.
A Strong Bite? Not Really! – Unlike modern big cats, Saber-Tooth Tigers didn’t have the strongest bite. Instead, they used their powerful neck muscles to deliver precise, deep bites to take down their prey.
Built for Power, Not Speed – While today’s tigers are fast, the Saber-Tooth was more of a muscle-packed ambush hunter. It relied on its strength to wrestle prey rather than chasing it down.
Ice Age Icon – Sully and his saber-toothed relatives lived during the Ice Age, meaning they might have shared the land with woolly mammoths, giant sloths, and early humans!
